Public Trust And Public Safety

Public Trust and Public Safety

This project, one of two being pursued through the Quad’s new Global Ideas Accelerator format, seeks to identify appropriate definitions for “Public Trust” and “Public Safety” in today’s Colorado Springs. Results of this community-scale study will be made publicly available in late August, 2020 and should help inform high priority work across the community – from public health response to law enforcement policy.

An interdisciplinary team of students working under the guidance of a multi-specialty faculty committee will examine academic literature, case studies, historic and current events to understand what makes a community safe, how trust impacts real and perceived safety and how to maximize both safety and trust. Recommended components of appropriate community definitions will be refined through community engagement.
